Few individuals are able to significantly impact a community in a year’s time. Yet, Sae Yamaguchi did just that with her kindness and positivity as an exchange student at Grosse Ile High School this past year.
Through the Rotary Exchange Program, Yamaguchi travelled more than 6,400 miles from Yokohama, Japan, to Grosse Ile, in July of last year. It was a culture shock for Yamaguchi, but she was grateful for every minute of it. In Japan, Yamaguchi lived in the city and never even considered getting her license. Here, it’s a staple of American teen culture.
