Whenever I think of reality TV shows the first one to come to mind is “Survivor,” a show I never watched but everyone talked about. A show that evolved from Survivor is “Naked and Afraid” — having naked in the title of a TV show is quite alluring, and I did watch it for a few minutes.
However the contestants may be naked on the show but according to insiders they’re not really afraid. The reason for that is a camera crew and medical staff are on duty, and on several locations there were towns nearby, so they really weren’t alone and destitute; they probably sent out to the nearest party store for snacks since they have no pockets.
To appear genuine the participants are without soap and full of grime on their faces –that’s enough for me — where’s my remote? A definition of a reality TV show is a program without a word-for-word script — but in reality some scripting is necessary for the sake of ratings. [Read more…]
