The Friends of the Detroit River are welcoming Downriver residents to come and help out at the organization’s annual Detroit River Lower Detroit River Cleanup Saturday, April 22.
This will be the 15th year in a row that FDR will be holding this event, and this year it is sponsored by the DTE Foundation. The event will start out from Trenton Rotary Park, at the foot of Harrison Street on the Detroit River.
Over the past 14 years FDR has been fortunate to attract a small army of dedicated volunteers. What makes this cleanup event different from other such events that take place in our local watersheds each spring is that it relies on a small flotilla of boats to get volunteers out to the various islands and shorelines that are only accessible by water.
