Dot Com marks 15 years
From a start-up business in 2002 to a complete online marketing company with a portfolio of over 800 websites, Linda Francetich is celebrating the 15th anniversary of her web design business, Dot Com Web Productions LLC.
Before starting her business, Francetich did not have any computer experience, other than turning her ancient DOS-based IBM 386-SX on and off to transcribe legal deposition documents. She had spent 15 years as a court reporter until a “disaster” in 1997 when she crashed her computer and inadvertently learned how to fix it herself.
She said that exploration led her to the business she still runs today — a business that many Downriver businesses turn to when they need an online presence.
Dot Com Web Productions specializes in web design but also builds and manages content management systems. Her team, she said, also is experienced in custom programming, search engine optimization, virtual tours, architectural photography, managing social media accounts and more. Clients range from local businesses to corporate accounts such as DTE Energy.
Dot Com has a reciprocal relationship with the Trenton Trib, as well as Downriver Profile Magazine. The business also has a subsidiary called Discover Downriver that focuses on the uniqueness of the Downriver area. The site gets about 2 million people annually who visit.
According to the mission statement on Discover Downriver, “Discover Downriver is to be a steward of the community by focusing on positive and uplifting aspects of this region. By promoting local businesses, people, and events that make Downriver a better place to live, we choose to celebrate the essence of this unique sector of Southeast Michigan.”
Francetich not only shows her passion for her community online, but she donates her time at festivals like the PNC Bank Roar on the River, where she has been the director of marketing, promotions and entertainment since 2004.
She, along with her employees and associates, donate their time before and during the races helping with the many aspects of the festival. She also is an advisory board member at Henry Ford College, Baker College and Downriver Career Technical Consortium via Carlson High School.
For Dot Com Web Productions, Francetich has won multiple web developer awards, as well as being recognized for her work in the community. She was awarded the prestigious Paul Harris award from the Trenton Rotary Club in addition to a Community Service Award from the SWCRC, one of many given by the Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber.
A graduate of Lincoln Park High School, Francetich has been a lifelong resident of Downriver.
Francetich understands the necessity of change and continues to grow with the ever-changing times in the technical world, hinting that Dot Com has some very big plans on the horizon.
