Grosse Ile resident Ron Moran is serving as this year’s chairman of a major annual fundraiser that supports Beaumont Children’s programs across southeast Michigan.
“Wine for the Spirit” is a strolling wine and food tasting event that will be held Sunday, Sept. 17, 5 p.m., at the new Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. This will be one of the first events offering the opportunity to preview the new venue.
Guests attending the event will enjoy a sampling of fine wines from around the world, wine and food pairings, entertainment by the Rick Lieder Band and guided tours of select locations within the Little Caesars Arena. In addition, a luxury silent auction will take place offering more than 100 fine wine, travel and sports memorabilia packages.
Featured packages include: Napa Valley Wine Experience; Sonoma Private Home for Six Guests; Finger Lakes Wine Tour; New York City Wine & Food Festival; Napa Valley Sightseeing Weekend Getaway and Bordeaux Wine Experience.
“This is truly a wonderful event that raises awareness and much needed funding for the programs of Beaumont Children’s,” said Moran, vice president of Dearborn-based Ghafari Associates. “Guests attending this year’s affair will not only experience wonderful, exotic, fine wines, but they will get one of the first looks at the new Little Caesars Arena. This is a must attend event for any wine lover.”
In its 22-year history, Wine for the Spirit has raised more than $7.1 million for various Beaumont programs. About 140,000 children and their families rely annually on Beaumont Children’s for their care, from birth through adolescence.
Proceeds will be used to fund leading edge technology to help children with cancer, epilepsy, or other issues; special training for clinical staff assisting mothers and newborns at the Karmanos Birth Center; patient scholarships for specialized therapies including speech and physical rehabilitation for children with special needs; and in-patient comfort programs like pet-assisted-therapy and art and music activities to reduce anxiety and promote healing.
Tickets for Wine for the Spirit are $200 and sponsorships are available. Visit www.beaumont.org/giving/foundation-events.
