The annual Trenton Trojans Youth Football Camp is set to kickoff later this month.
Organizer Aaron Segedi said early registrations are $50 and will be accepted until June 17. Late registrations will cost $55 and will be accepted right up to the start of camp, which runs from 8 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, through Thursday, June 25.
Students entering grades one through eight are eligible. Students entering the ninth-grade this fall are not.
No prior football experience is necessary to sign up, Segedi said. The camp will be held at the Trenton High School practice field and will be run by Trenton coaches.
Segedi noted that this is a “non-contact” camp and helmets are not required. Recommended gear includes cleats, shorts, t-shirt and mouth guard. Unlimited water will be available each day.
The registration fee includes a camp t-shirt. As an added bonus, campers can wear their t-shirts to obtain free admission to the Sept. 11 home opener for the Trojans varsity football team and get a “behind-the-scenes” experience prior to the game.
Camp activities will include individual technique instruction by coaches of the varsity, junior varsity, freshman and middle school football teams as well as the varsity football players. The instructors will cover topics such as offensive and defensive position techniques and provide small group instruction.
Segedi said the emphasis will be on teaching the fundamentals of the game and include a punt, pass and kick competition, Air Force football games and a perfect play competition.
Registration forms were provided at the schools. For more information, call Coach Segedi at (734) 558-4654.
